Travel Information

The nearest port of entry by air ,road and rail to Kohima is Dimapur. Dimapur is connected to Kolkata and Guwahati . The 3 ½ hour road journey then ascends up to the cool and hilly terrains leading you to our camp location.

By Road

This is a very pleasant drive starting from the bustling town of Dimapur, lasting approx 3 hours and 20 minutes to our camp location. Toilet facilities en-route are limited or basic. For long haul drives, the vehicle will be equipped with water, non alcoholic beverages, an emergency medical kit , neck pillow , soft tissues and wet wipes etc . The road runs past beautiful stretches of forests, greenery, hillocks and delectable roadside villages.

The Kohima Camp, Nagaland is situated at the base of the Japfu Peak at Kigwema - Nagaland. It is a 40 minute drive from Kohima town, and two 02 kilometers away from the Hornbill Festival site.

  • Please inform camp prior to your arrival about any medical condition/s you may have
  • If the guests is on any long term medication/s , is there any particular storage required.
  • FOREIGN TOURISTS: should be in possession of a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, conforming to International Health Regulations, if they are originating or traveling through Yellow Fever endemic countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the following vaccinations (as well as being up to date with measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations): Adult Diphtheria and Tetanus , Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid and Varicella. It is advisable to check with your doctor before travelling.
  • The Camp has an on-site paramedic and First Aid facilities.
  • In case of medical emergencies, you will be assisted to the nearest medical facility from the list of hospitals available at the camp.
  • Personal travel insurance – We strongly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance cover from your country of domicile for injury, illness, death, accident, adventure tours and activities, loss of effects or luggage and holiday cancellation.
  • Kindly refer to the cancelations policy stated in our Booking Terms and Conditions.


  • For Nagaland, during the day, in November and December, guests will require light woollen in the mornings and shawls in the evenings. Casuals with half / full sleeves shirts and full length pants / long shirts are advised. Layered clothing work well.
  • Heavy woollen, with scarves, gloves and caps, fleece, jackets or shawls are recommended for late evenings and nights.
  • Comfortable walking shoes for the activities are a must and a raincoat is advisable.

Things to carry with you for the trip:

  • Woollens (the weather is liable to sudden change in the mountains)
  • Waterproof light jacket. Caps, scarves and gloves are recommended too.
  • Good strapped sandals or flip-flops will be handy for camp
  • Socks and shoes/trainers for village walks
  • Sunscreen/Sun block with SPF 15 and above
  • Vaseline/Lip Salve
  • Long trousers / long shirts / T-shirts etc.
  • Quick drying shorts and Dry Fit T shirts for activities
  • Sunglasses with eyeglass retainers
  • Head lamps or torch lights
  • Day packs and water bottles for activities

Weather Info

  • The climate of Nagaland in general is controlled by its terrain features. It is hot to warm subtropical in areas with elevations of 500 to 1200 m. The climatic environment is warm sub temperate in areas with elevations of 1200 m and above.
  • Most of the heavy rainfall occurs during four months i.e. June to September.
  • Day time temperature in December would average 20°C ( 68°F) and night time temperature plummet to 4°C ( 39°F)
  • In winter, frost is common at high elevations. Winter makes an early arrival and bitter cold and dry weather strikes certain regions of the state.
  • The maximum average temperature recorded in the winter season is 24 °C (75 °F) with chances of light occasional rains
  • The weather in Nagaland is very temperamental. All activities, excursions and extensions will be subject to weather conditions. The activity or excursion specialist at the camp will monitor and advise on the same.
