Are there minibars provided in the tents?Answer:
No there is no minibar but there is a Complementary alcohol free refreshment bar available in the tent.
Do we need to carry mosquito/insect repellent?Answer:
Since these are skin sensitive we recommend you carry your own, however, insect repellents are provided at the camp.
What can I buy in Ladakh?Answer:
Pashmina Shawls, stoles and other woollen garments. Hand-woven rugs are available in the area, as well as Tibetan handicraft items including Prayer wheels, Buddhist masks, Thangka Paintings, Tibetan silver jewellery and traditional turquoise Ladakhi Jewellery. You'll also find Kashmiri carpets, semi precious stones and jewellery etc
What travel documents do we need to bring to the camp?Answer:
Valid Passport with a valid Indian visa, vouchers, travel insurance and valid domestic air tickets for foreigners.
Indian travelers must have at least one of their Indian Government issued ID.
Can you make special arrangements for occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries etc.Answer:
Yes, we'd be delighted to help you plan your event.
Can the camp be customized for special occasions such as weddings, family Celebrations, etc.Answer:
Yes, the camp can cater to any special occasion and customise the celebration to suit the guest requirement.
Do I need inoculations before coming to India?Answer:
No vaccinations are necessary to travel to India however, foreign tourists should be in possession of a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, conforming to international health regulations, if they are originating or travelling through Yellow Fever endemic countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the following vaccinations (as well as being up to date with measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations): Adult diphtheria and tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatites B, typhoid and varicella. It is advisable to check with your doctor before travelling.

What should we wear for the rafting trips?Answer:
Quick-dry material - nylon or light cotton shorts and t-shirts would be best. Also, swimming costumes / trunks, towel, flip-flops/ or sandals with straps would be ideal. You can carry your day pack with all your personal items (including a set of dry clothes and a light water proof jacket and pants). A lot of sun block (SPF 70 +) is highly recommended.
Can we carry cameras and mobile phones for the rafting trip?Answer:
Please get waterproof covers and water proof bags for your equipment which should be strapped on, as we will not be responsible for the same.
Is the rafting stretch dangerous? What is the grade of difficulty?Answer:
No, the rafting stretch is fairly gentle. The rafting is graded in the grade system of 1-6, 1 being easy and 6 being very difficult. The stretch that we have chosen varies from a grade of 1 to 2.We also have an accompanying safety kayaker on every rafting trip. Your rafting instructor will give you safety instructions before you begin.
Will the guides advise certain clients not to raft?Answer:
Yes, under no circumstances can somebody raft under the influence of drugs / alcohol. Also, a person with a recent injury eg. a broken arm/ leg, slipped disc or if pregnant may be advised to avoid this activity. Children above 10 years only will be allowed on the raft.
What should we wear for the cycling trips?Answer:
Quick-dry material or cotton shorts and t-shirts.. A material that is breathable, like lycra clothing, would be ideal. Trainers with socks are advisable. Please also carry your day packs with your water bottle, sun block (SP 70 plus), sunglasses (with strap), and any other personal items (such as your own personal medications). It is advisable to carry light water proof jacket and pants as the weather can sometimes change drastically. A warm jacket is required in the month of September as the weather is much colder.
What bikes will you provide us with for the cycling trips?Answer:
Proper mountain bikes with gears will be provided for the cycling trips. Helmets are compulsory for everyone. We recommend you carry your own helmets, but if you wish, the same can be locally arranged.
What should we wear for the hiking trips?Answer:
A very light cotton t-shirt, and a light trousers are recommended. Shorts are appropriate too. Sturdy hiking boots with good ankle support if opting for the day hike and comfortable walking shoes / trainers if going on a shorter walk around the village. You need to carry your day packs, water bottles, medication, and sun block. Also, a light water proof jacket and pants should be carried at all times as we are trekking in the mountains and therefore the weather can sometimes change drastically. A warm jacket is required in the month of September as the weather is much colder.
Will torches be available at the camp.Answer:
Yes, each tent will be equipped with a torch.
Can the plan for the activities be cancelled/ terminated due to bad weather?Answer:
The weather in Ladakh is very temperamental. All activities, excursions and extensions will be subject to weather conditions. The Activity or excursion specialist at the camp will monitor and advise on the same.
What fitness level should one have for the different activities in Ladakh?Answer:
If you have heart and lung conditions or a walking disability, you should refrain from participating in strenuous activities and must get permission from your doctors to travel to Ladakh.
What modes of transport are provided for sightseeing and airport transfers?Answer:

Can we book a separate car and guide for ourselves?Answer:
The holiday package includes a car and guide. However, should guests require a car and guide for an excursion / activity not included in our standard itinerary, the same will be provided at a supplement charge.
Can we stay at the campsite if we wish to skip a sightseeing trip or activity?Answer:
Yes, guests can relax at the campsite should they wish to skip an excursion or activity. However, it is important to be aware that there will be no refund for unutilised services.
Are tips / gratuities included in the package price for drivers, guides, valets, other staff at campsite.Answer:
No, tips /gratuities are not included in the package price. The same is at the discretion of the guests and can be placed in the tip box placed at the reception.
What is the tipping policy away from the camp and how much should we tip our guides and drivers?Answer:
Tipping for any service within the camp premises or outside the camp premises is totally at the discretion of the guests. Individual tipping is not encouraged at the campsite. There will be a tip box placed at the reception and guests can put their tip / gratuity in the box.
Do you provide guides for excursions?Answer:
Yes, guides are available with the excursions.
Can you provide a language speaking guide?Answer:
Due to limited availability of language speaking guides, we will need sufficient notice to book the language guides at a supplement charge.

The standard mattress has a memory layered medium soft surface. Requests for firmer mattresses can also be taken care of.
Do we have a personal butler at the campsite?Answer:

Does the camp offer recreational areas?Answer:
Yes, The Chamba Camp, Thiksey is sprawled across 15 acres with a 360 degree view comprising of the Stok-Kangri Mountain Range, Ladakh Mountain Range and the majestic Thiksey Monastery. Enhancing the picturesque landscape are natural water-bodies fed by the melting snow from the surrounding mountains. There are plenty of private spots near the water bodies to which extend our acqu-decks, shadowed by willow trees providing you a moment of quiet bliss as they capture the many hues of the rising and setting sun.
What is the total capacity of the campsite?Answer:
The maximum number of guests Chamba Camp, Thiksey can accommodate at one time would be 34 guests
What are the sizes of the tents?Answer:
The Luxury Suite Tent has a carpet area of 420 sq ft comprising of one bedroom, bathroom and veranda and the Presidential Suite Tent has a carpet area of 520 sq ft. comprising of an annex bedroom to accommodate 02 guests , which can also be transformed into a private sitting bay. It also has an ensuite bathroom and a private sit out area.
Are there private areas to sit outside?Answer:
Each tent has its own private sit out deck.
What is the seating capacity at the restaurant?Answer:
The restaurant has the capacity to accommodate 32 in-house guests for each meal. In addition, should guests wish to enjoy a meal in privacy or in al fresco surroundings, the same can be arranged on sufficient notice.
Are the tents air conditioned?Answer:
Yes, the tents are air conditioned.
Will there be heaters in the tents?Answer:
Yes, both heating and cooling is possible.
Will there be somewhere to store valuables?Answer:
Yes, every tent has an electronic safe for valuables.
Do the tents have windows?Answer:
Yes, the tents have large windows with netting to prevent insects from entering.
Do you have hot water facilities available in the bathrooms and will it run 24x7 or at set timings?Answer:
Yes, hot water will be available round the clock.
Do you provide wheelchairs if a passenger requires?Answer:
Yes, the campsite has a wheelchair available.
We recommend that guests with limited mobility and other such constraints should be accompanied by an able bodied passenger. However, our butlers will be available to provide additional assistance. Kindly specify any special requirements at the time of booking.
Is smoking inside the rooms / common areas permitted?Answer:
Smoking is not permitted in the tents as it would be a fire hazard. However, there will be a designated area on the campsite where smoking will be permitted.

What are the activities you provide at the camp and do you have indoor board games and a library?Answer:
Yes, we do have a small library in the reception area. Activities available on site besides various board games are archery, croquet, nature walks, birding, village walks and cycling on the Thiksey village trails.

We have 11 luxury suite tents and 03 Presidential Suit Tents.
Each luxury suite tent can accommodate two guests (plus, one additional guest) and each presidential suite tent can accommodate up to four guests (two guests plus two additional one guests)
What is the minimum number of nights one can stay at the camp?Answer:
Our standard package is for minimum three nights. The first one and half days are necessary for acclimatizing to the high altitude.
Will the altitude in Ladakh be an issue? What are the best ways to acclimatize?Answer:
Ladakh being at an altitude of 11,500ft, you will need time to acclimatise to the rarified atmosphere. In order to facilitate the acclimatisation and prevent High Altitude Sickness (HAS), complete rest, with very little physical activity and also constant replenishing body with plenty of non-alcoholic liquid and no-smoking on Day 01 of your Ladakh itinerary, is highly recommended.

How well connected is Leh to others parts of India?Answer:
The city of Leh is best connected to Delhi in North India by air. Daily flights operate Delhi-Leh-Delhi. Please remember, all these are early morning flights only. During high season i.e June to August, limited flights operate from Srinagar and Jammu. Access to Leh from South, East and West India is through Delhi. Besides air connectivity, Leh is connected by surface from Srinagar and from Manali once the mountain passes open, which is May onwards.

Do you provide any kind of insurance facility for guests?Answer:
Personal travel insurance - We strongly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance cover from your country of domicile for injury, illness, death, accident, adventure tours and activities, loss of effects or luggage and holiday cancellation. Insurance for the Chamba Camp, Thiksey - The Camp is comprehensively insured for fire, earthquake, theft and terrorism.
What is the dress code at the camp and what will I need for the activities and excursions?Answer:
The dress code will vary slightly based upon the location of the camp. For Ladakh, during the day, in June, August and September, guests will require full-sleeve cotton or denim shirts / blouses, carry a light jumper / fleece shawl for the evening and comfortable walking shoes. Layers work well.
The month of July is usually warmer and half sleeves shirts and shorts can be worn during the day.
What type of cuisine will be served at the camp?Answer:
Continental, Indian food and regional delicacies will be served at the camp.
Are the drinks complimentary at the camp?Answer:
Only soft beverages are included in the plan.
Do you consider special dietary requirements?Answer:

No, we advise you to drink mineral water at all times.
