Travel Information

Nubra Valley also referred to as "the orchard of Ladakh" with the mighty River Shyok merging into the Nubra River to form a huge valley that divides the Karakoram ranges from Ladakh. Nubra is a high altutude cold desert and forms a bridge between the trans-Himalayan Tibetean plateau with the Karakoram ranges Nubra Valley has to be reached en route through Khardung La Pass from Leh. Dotted with knock down palaces and small prestine villages, this is prime walking country.

By Air

The closest airport to Nubra valley is Leh Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport, Leh which is situated 122 Kms away in Leh

By Road

Distance from Diskit to Leh is 120 km . You can reach in about 5 – 6 Hrs depending upon the number of break you take in between and of course at Khardung La.

Important Documents

Foreign nationals are required to get a Protected Area Permit to visit the Nubra Valley , which TUTC will secure for all our esteem clients.

Medical

You can avail of all First Aid from our Camp. Diskit Village which is the headquarters of Nubra Valley has a hospital where you will be able to get basic medical aid and treatment.The Army hospital at hundar is amply stocked with medical supplies.

Customs

Whilst the Buddhist culture of Nubra shares the same social-religious hues of Ladakh , the Nubra Valley is enriched moreso due to the presence of Islam which is a living cultural legacy from the time of the then Silk Route. An amalgamation of two unique philosophies abound the realms of Nubra.

Clothing

The peak summer months from mid June to August have a pleasant temperature and therefore single T-shirts or shirt can do. However, as in most parts of the Leh-Ladakh region, there is a drastic fluctuation in the daily temperature. Therefore, layered clothing is always suggested.

Weather

Although the Nubra Valley lies to the North of Leh , yet it lis 400 mts below the Leh Valley , which makes it more hospitable.

The weather pattern is more or less same to the Leh Valley system.
