Activities

  • Question:

    What fitness level should one have for the different activities in Nagaland?

    Answer:

    If you have heart and lung conditions or a walking disability, you should refrain from participating in strenuous activities and must get permission from your doctors to travel to Nagaland.

     
  • Question:

    Can the plan for the activities be cancelled/ terminated due to bad weather?

    Answer:

    The weather in Nagaland is cold in the winter season. All activities, excursions and extensions will be subject to weather conditions. There is a slight chance of light rainfall. The activity or excursion specialist at the camp will monitor and advise on the same.

     
  • Question:

    What can I buy in Kohima/ Kisama Heritage Village( Hornbill Festival venue) ?

    Answer:

    Warm and colourful Naga shawls, hand woven shoulder bags, decorative spears, tablemats, woodcarvings and bamboo works make interesting souvenirs.

    Will torches be available at the camp.

    Answer:

    Yes, each tent will be equipped with a torch.

    Well lit pathways will guide you to and from the camp common areas to your tent at night.

     
  • Question:

    What should we wear for the village excursion trips?

    Answer:

    A light cotton t-shirt, and a light trousers are recommended. Shorts are appropriate too. Sturdy hiking boots with good ankle support if opting for the day hike and comfortable walking shoes / trainers if going on a shorter walk around the village. You need to carry your day packs, water bottles, medication, and sun block. Also, a light water proof jacket and pants should be carried at all times as we are hiking in the mountains where the weather can sometimes change drastically. A warm jacket is required in the month of December as the weather is much colder.

     

General

  • Question:

    Do I need inoculations before coming to India?

    Answer:

    No vaccinations are necessary to travel to India.

    However, foreign tourists should be in possession of a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, conforming to international health regulations, if they are originating or travelling through Yellow Fever endemic countries. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the following vaccinations (as well as being up to date with measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations): Adult diphtheria and tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatites B, typhoid and varicella.
    It is advisable to check with your doctor before travelling.

    Can the camp be customized for special occasions such as weddings and family celebrations?

    Answer:

    Yes, the camp can cater to any special occasion and we would be glad to customise parts of the camp to suit your requirements.

    Can you make special arrangements for occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries?

    Answer:

    Yes, we'd be delighted to help you plan your event.

    Can The Ultimate Travelling Camp arrange my visa?

    Answer:

    We are sorry we cannot arrange for your visa or permits. You are requested to contact your travel agent to assist you with the same.

     
  • Question:

    Do we need to carry mosquito/insect repellent?

    Answer:

    Since these are skin sensitive we recommend you carry your own, however, insect repellents are provided at the camp. All our tents also have netted windows and doorways to minimise insects inside the tents.

     
  • Question:

    What travel documents do we need to bring to the camp?

    Answer:

    Indians: Indians travelling to Nagaland need an Inner Line permit for which they are required to carry at
    least one Government approved ID (i.e. Driving License, Aadhaar Card, Passport etc).
    TUTC shall undertake procurement of required permits for our Indian guests prior to their arrival into
    Nagaland.

    NRIs / PIO card holders / OCI card holders: NRIs (Indians who are staying abroad for more than 6
    months), PIO Card holders and OCI Card holders are not eligible for Inner Line Permit. They will have to apply
    for a regular Protected / Restricted Area Permit. A PAP / RAP (Protected / Restricted Area Permit) is normally
    issued for 10 days and has an option of a 7 day extension. The PAP is issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs
    and may / may not require approval from other competent authorities as well. Also, different authorities of the
    concerned Indian states, FRROs, and Indian missions abroad can also issue such permit. Kindly contact your
    travel agent well in time to get the PAP for you.

    Foreigners: Foreigners travelling to Nagaland would need a regular Protected / Restricted Area Permit for
    which it is very important that they keep at least 5 photocopies of their Passport and Indian visa with them before
    entering Nagaland. It is mandatory to sign a C-Form at the Camp.

    Citizens of the neighboring countries: Citizens of the neighboring countries, i.e. Pakistan, Afghanistan,
    Bangladesh, China and Myanmar can get a Protected Area Permit with the approval of the Ministry of Home
    Affairs and may / may not require approval from other competent authorities.


    Diplomatic / Official Passport: Special instructions applicable to foreign diplomats and members of the
    United Nations and International Organizations holding Diplomatic / Official Passport are issued by the
    Ministry of External Affairs.
    All guests would need to procure permits prior to arrival, TUTC will not be held liable for procurement of
    permit in any manner whatsoever. Permits and policies are subject to change as per government notifications

     

Away from the Campsite

  • Question:

    What modes of transport are provided for sightseeing and airport transfers?

    Answer:

    Comfortable, air-conditioned Toyota Innovas are available for sightseeing and airport transfers.

     
  • Question:

    Can you provide a language speaking guide?

    Answer:

    Yes, we can. We will need sufficient notice to book the language guides at a supplement charge. Kindly inform us at the time of booking.

    Do you provide guides for excursions?

    Answer:

    Yes, English speaking guides are available with the excursions. All sightseeing tours and excursions are accompanied by professional and qualified guides who have a great depth of knowledge and experience of the local region. All tours will be conducted in English or Hindi

     
  • Question:

    What is the tipping policy away from the camp and how much should we tip our guides and drivers?

    Answer:

    Gratuities are additional to your tour price and are completely at your discretion. Two envelopes will be provided in your tent on the last night of your stay i.e. one for Camp Staff tipping and the other for Guides & Drivers. Please avoid tipping any individual member as the gratuity will be shared by all staff. Please do mention on the envelope the name of the staff that you would specially like to commend.

     
  • Question:

    Can we stay at the campsite if we wish to skip a sightseeing trip or activity?

    Answer:

    Yes, guests can relax at the should they wish to skip an excursion or activity. However, it is important to be aware that there will be no refund for unutilised services.

     
  • Question:

    Can we book a separate car and guide for ourselves?

    Answer:

    The holiday experience also includes a car and guide, other than the camp and its allied amenities and services. However, should guests require a car and guide for an excursion / activity not included in our standard itinerary, the same will be provided at a supplementary charge.

     

Room Amenities

  • Question:

    What size beds are there?

    Answer:

    The bed is 7 feet long. Accommodation is a double or Hollywood / twin bed style.

    Do you have hard or soft mattresses?

    Answer:

    The standard mattress has a memory layered medium soft surface. Requests for firmer mattresses can also be taken care of on prior information request at the time of booking

    Do you provide different types of pillows and duvets?

    Answer:

    Speciality pillows can only be provided on prior information request at the time of booking. We have duvets with an option of Zero degree quilt.

    Are there televisions in the tents?

    Answer:

    No television in the tents .We encourage our esteemed guests to relax and immerse themselves in nature.

     
  • Question:

    What room amenities are provided?

    Answer:

    Writing desk, in-house stationery, carpet slippers, wash accessories and camp ponchos.

     

Service

  • Question:

    Do you have a laundry service?

    Answer:

    Yes we do provide in house laundry service at a supplementary charge. Please note that it will take us one day to process your laundry.

    Are spa facilities available at the camp?

    Answer:

    At this time spa facilities are not available at the camp. We are working towards introducing them soon.

    Is there a personal butler at the campsite?

    Answer:

    Yes, we do accord personalized butler service to each tent.

    Do you have WiFi available at the camp?

    Answer:

    Yes, WiFi is available but restricted to only the Reception Tent area

    Do you have medical facilities at the camp and is there an in house doctor / nurse?

    Answer:

    First Aid facilities and assistance of a paramedic will be available at the camp. He will be there on site 24 X 7 to monitor your medical variables. In case of medical emergencies, you will be assisted to the nearest medical facility from a list of hospitals available at the camp.

    Is room service available?

    Answer:

    Yes, room service is available but only for special cases (when client is unwell).

    Does the camp offer recreational areas?

    Answer:

    Camp Kohima, Nagaland has a warm and inviting reception area. We also have a bonfire area exclusively for our in house guests.

    Do the tents have windows?

    Answer:

    Yes, the tents have large windows with netting to prevent insects from entering.

    Will mobile phones work?

    Answer:

    Yes, selected networks are available, these are - Aircel, BSNL and Jio.

    What kinds of plug sockets are available?

    Answer:

    220v-240v 3 pin sockets are provided. For alternative adapters please contact your butler.

    Is smoking inside the rooms / common areas permitted?

    Answer:

    Due to safety reason smoking is not permissible in the tents, dining and reception tent and public areas. There are select designated areas for the same in our camp location.

    Do you provide wheelchairs if a passenger requires?

    Answer:

    We are sorry, we do not provide wheelchairs. We recommend that guests with limited mobility and other such physical constraints should be accompanied by an able bodied passenger. However, our butlers will be available to provide additional assistance. Kindly specify any special requirements for guests with limited mobility at the time of booking.

    Do you have hot water facilities available in the bathrooms and will it run 24x7 or at set timings?

    Answer:

    Yes, running hot water will be available 24X7.

    Will there be somewhere to store valuables?

    Answer:

    Yes, every tent has an electronic safe for valuables. All tents are equipped with electronic safes with pass code of your choice. For safety reasons, it is advisable to store your passport, travel documents and other valuables in the safe provided.

    Is the restaurant tent equipped with room heaters?

    Answer:

    Yes, our restaurant tents are equipped with room heaters. Room heaters are provided in both the reception and dining tents as well as the client's tent.

    What are the sizes of the client tent?

    The Luxury Suite Tent measures a massive 520 sq ft. It also has an ensuite bathroom and a private sit out area.

    What are the activities you provide at the camp? Does the camp offer recreational areas?

    Answer:

    Camp Kohima, Nagaland has a warm and inviting reception area.
    We also have a bonfire area exclusively for our in house guests. Our local style inspired bonfire bay is a great place for sundowners and to exchange stories with other guests. This bon fire bay also has a live kitchen serving up delicacies. There's a bonfire organised every night and we have some very interesting events scheduled for our esteemed guests - from cultural shows , songs and dances of the tribal community and talks by local experts on various aspects of Nagaland.


    Our Camp also has:

    Library: The library features a selection of handpicked books that cover a wide and wonderful array of subjects from spirituality and regional history to art and culture.

    Boutique: Our boutique showcases the best of India's regional handicrafts, including tribal weaves, silver trinkets embedded with semi-precious stones, handmade crafts and paintings by local artists from around the country

The Stay

    What is the minimum number of nights one can stay at the camp?

    Answer:

    Our standard package is for minimum of two nights and up to five nights. To really get a feel of the place, we recommend you stay for at least three nights.

    Do your prices include flights?

    Answer:

    No, all domestic and international flights are excluded.

    How many tents are available? What is the capacity of each tent? What category are the tents?

    Answer:

    We have 17 Luxury suite tents. Each tent can accommodate two guests and has a provision to add in an extra single guest.

     
  • Question:

    Where is the camp situated in Nagaland?

    Answer:

    Camp Kohima, Nagaland lies amidst a green noble forested area in Kigwema, just 20 minutes drive away from the Hornbill Festival venue. The nearest domestic airport and railway station is Dimapur, which is 85 kms (3 hours and 20 minutes drive time) away.

    Will the altitude in Camp Kohima, Nagaland be an issue?

    Answer:

    Camp Kohima, Nagaland is nestled in a comfortable altitude of 2,000 mtrs (6,600 ft) ASL and no breathing associated hazards are related with this height.

    Do you provide any kind of insurance facility for guests?

    Answer:

    Personal travel insurance - We strongly recommend that you have adequate travel insurance cover from your country of domicile for injury, illness, death, accident, adventure tours and activities, loss of effects or luggage and holiday cancellation. Kindly refer to the cancelation policy stated in our Booking Terms and Conditions.

    Insurance for the Camp Kohima, Nagaland - The camp is comprehensively insured for fire, earthquake, theft and terrorism.

    How well connected is Dimapur to others parts of India?

    Answer:

    The city of Dimapur is best connected to Kolkata by air. Daily flights operate Kolkata & Dibrugarh into Dimapur. Besides air connectivity, Dimapur is connected by rail which comes through Guwahati.
    There is also road connectivity from Assam (Guwahati, Dibrugarh , Kaziranga and Jorhat) and Imphal (Manipur).

    What is the dress code at the camp?

    Answer:

    Temperatures tend to dip once the sun sets. Furthermore, daylight time is short in Nagaland during winters and the camp is located amidst forested area. Therefore, warm layered clothing is highly recommended.

    Dinner Attire: The Kohima Camp Nagaland provides an opportunity to dress for the occasion. Dining dress code is always elegant casuals and we also provide our guest with woolen ponchos as temperature tends to dip as the sun goes down.

    What is not included in the price?

    Answer:
    1. Prices do not include international or domestic airfare.
    2. Any optional tour mentioned in the itinerary.
    3. Government service tax of 9% inclusive of 'Swachch Bharat Cess' and "Krishi Kalyan Cess" on the total billing for all bookings. Subject to change without prior notice.
    4. Taxes not mentioned in the package inclusions, insurance and gratuities on the campsite for housekeeping, food and beverage services.
    5. Gratuities to service staff including guides and drivers.
    6. Expenses of a personal nature like telephone calls, laundry, alcoholic beverages, porterage at airports / and railway stations.

    Answer:

    No. The dining room can accommodate all in-house guests at the same time.

    No, we advise you to drink bottled water provided by us at all times.

    What type of cuisine will be served at the camp?

    Answer:

    The meals offered are an exciting array of contemporary European, Indian, Regional and Local Cuisine. We have multi skilled Chefs who serve multi cuisine dishes with emphasis on garden fresh vegetables and herbs from the local community farmland. All meals are included in your tour price. Packed lunches will be provided for some off site excursions.

    Special Meals: In case of any special dietary requirement of food allergies, kids menu etc. please do mention the same at the time of booking. Our chef shall try to accommodate your requests as far as possible.

    Answer:

    Yes, each tent is equipped with an electronic safe. All tents are equipped with electronic safes with pass code of your choice. For safety reasons, it is advisable to store your passport, travel documents and other valuables in the safe provided.

    What are the security arrangements at the camp?

    Answer:

    The camp is equipped with appropriate security including guards. CCTV cameras installed in the camp area. We also have a discreet security presence operational 24 X 7 and trained in all forms of security drills and first response to natural calamity.
